Happy Easter!

(So I am technically a day late on my Easter post, forgive me! I was enjoying the BEAUTIFUL day yesterday.)

Holidays on campus are a guaranteed ghost-town. Those who live close to the Path spend the day with their families, and a lot of long distance residents head home for the holiday weekend (except the extreme out of staters). As for me, I live on the southeast coast of Massachusetts in small-town Whitman. My family is closely knit and I’ve always been a homebody so it’s difficult to be apart, especially on traditionally family occasions. Normally I would use public transportation in the form of a Peter Pan bus, but with much homework to accomplish for the coming week and trying to work out summer job interviews, remaining on campus was a mutual decision. In which case, I took advantage of the quiet campus!

Easter morning I woke up to see the Easter Bunny had visited my dorm! Well, my roommate and I swapped Easter goodies. Sour Patch jellybeans, Snickers, Reese’s eggs, Lindt chocolate carrots & pink Peeps… mhm mhm GOOD!

We started the day attending Easter mass across the street at St. Mary’s Parish. The church was full of happy people and adorable little kids in their holiday outfits. Afterwards, we grabbed our rackets and went down to the tennis courts. Surprisingly, there were a good number of people with the same idea playing on Easter, though mostly families practicing with their kids. I definitely worked up a sweat in the heat! And my swing has even improved a little bit!

The day wouldn’t be a complete without dyeing some Easter eggs now would it? Carefully setting up the colors on paper towels all over our floor we experimented on the white eggs. I’m used to the dye where you dunk the egg into a cup and wait for it to color, but this time I tried out dyeing rollers which were a little less messy. Here are the final creations:

Spring Cleaning!

The rain has finally cleared and the Bay Path lawnmowers are in full force, once again, for the beautiful spring season. The best part about the nice weather is being able to relax outside, under the sun, on a blanket on the grass reading a good book or getting some homework done on the laptop (when the lawnmowers are NOT running, of course).

It might seem lame, but after sleeping in late on a breezy Saturday morning I love to open up the dorm window and get some cleaning tackled! The dorms are cozy during the winter months, but it’s nice to finally be able to breathe the fresh spring air through the room. I lucked out during room draw and was able to get a front-facing window in Theinert; a perfect view of Deepwood Circle and all the spring festivities it holds!

Sweeping.. check. Laundry.. check. Febreeze.. check. Lysol.. check. Dishes.. check. Fish & Frog tanks.. check.

I’ve also just started up my work out routine. I’m not typically a strict work-out-in-the-gym type person, honestly because I find it easier to let myself slack off and find excuses to not get over there during the day. Instead, I’m trying a Jillian Michael’s DVD (the Biggest Loser trainer) right in my room with some friends and let me tell you, it is intense! Muscles I did not even know I had are aching today. I guess that’s a good sign though?

On those days I need a rest from Jillian I head over to Longmeadow High’s tennis courts for some lighter exercise and time in the sun! I’m no pro but gradually getting better with practice. It’s just something fun to do off campus to clear my mind.

carpe diem.

Get out there and enjoy the weather ladies!
